The Training Jersey – The Perfect Balance Between Speed and Protection From Chill
Training Jersey is a lightweight, breathable, quick-drying summer cycling jersey that strikes the perfect balance between speed and protection from chill. The main body high elasticity fabric optimises form fitting, with vertical supports to hold shape and 3D bubble sleeve panelling for airflow and moisture wicking. HeiQ Fresh antibacterial treatment means fewer washes between rides, and recycled Bluesign approved YKK zipper and three drop pockets + one zipped valuables pocket.
Size Chart
To ensure a comfortable fit, please consult the size chart available for each product. A jersey that is too loose will catch the wind and slow you down, whereas one that is too tight will be restrictive. For general guidelines, we recommend sizing up to the size you wear in a tshirt or polo shirt. Please note that sizing information is provided by the manufacturer and may vary slightly from player to player. For additional assistance, please contact Customer Service.
Fabric
Jersey fabric is a soft, stretchy material that can be used to create comfortable clothing. It comes in a variety of fabrics and can be made from wool, cotton, silk, or other materials. The material is also available in a wide range of thicknesses. Thicker fabrics are more suitable for garments that require substantial structure, while thinner jerseys are better for lightweight items like T-shirts and dresses. Jersey fabric can also be manufactured from recycled materials or natural fibers, and it can be found in a wide range of colors.
Different types of jersey fabric have their own unique characteristics, which can affect how well the fabric drapes or fits the wearer. Single jersey is a knitted fabric that has a wrong and right side, while double jersey or interlock is more structured and does not drape as easily. It is typically used to make hoodies, sweaters, and other clothing that requires structure. Other types of jersey fabric include Ponte Roma and scuba, which are heavier, double-knit jerseys that are often used to create dresses and jumpers.
The fabric’s composition determines how durable and warm it is, as well as its environmental impact. Synthetic materials, such as polyester and rayon, are typically the least expensive, but they may contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to the environment. On the other hand, wool and Training Jersey cotton are produced from natural fibers that do not require agrochemicals to grow, and they are also biodegradable.
To create jersey fabric, textile manufacturers start with raw materials like cotton, wool, or synthetic yarn. They then run it through an automated knitting machine that twists and combines the threads into a close-knit fabric. The final product looks like a latticework of twisted vertical yarns connected by untwisted horizontal yarns. The elasticity of the fabric allows it to conform to the body’s shape, which makes it an ideal choice for clothing that requires a snug fit. It also resists wrinkling and does not shrink when washed.
Fit
The Training Jersey combines performance fabrics and design with an affordable price tag. It’s not a race fit like the Pro Team Aero jersey, but it is a very comfortable and functional piece for any ride, whether commuting to work or going out on a long summer endurance ride.
The main body of the jersey is made from a breathable, high-stretch, sweat-wicking fabric with mesh side panels for heat regulation. It’s 25% heavier than the summer Aero jerseys, making it perfect for changeable conditions or a transitional season. The 155gsm main fabric is also more durable and quick to dry, meaning you won’t need to wash it as often. HeiQ Fresh antibacterial treatment is incorporated into the jersey to reduce the build-up of odours and keep you fresher for longer.
A full-length zip and strong, elasticated hems help the jersey to stay in place, while remaining comfortable even at a high effort. The sleeves lay flat, without rubber grippers which can chafe when you’re riding hard. A small zippered pocket is included for storing valuables, and the back of the jersey has a stretchy, reinforced design to prevent it from riding up or sagging.
Unlike most Rapha jerseys, which are made from merino wool, the Training Jersey uses Polartec’s light-weight, recycled Delta fabric that is very similar to polyester but has a better SPF rating and feels very comfortable. It’s a good choice for cool weather rides but, as with any thermal, it won’t be ideal on the hottest days. The tight fit restricts air Training Jersey movement around the torso, so it’s not as good at wicking moisture as a looser jersey.
The jersey is designed with a rider’s position in mind, so the front of the jersey is fairly short, which may be an issue on some riders. This isn’t a problem while you’re on the bike but it can make you visible at cafes and other stops on your ride. The sleeves are a bit shorter than those on Rapha’s aero jerseys but they aren’t uncomfortable when you’re in a racing position. The jersey also features a slightly relaxed cut that’s great for endurance rides and carrying food or extra layers.
Design
Designed for training and practice, this lightweight jersey saves your game day jersey from non-event use and abuse. Made with ultra-soft Sensitive fabric, it’s moisture wicking and highly breathable. The relaxed fit promotes unrestricted movement without feeling restrictive, and mesh side panels improve airflow and durability. Zippered drop pockets and a full zipper make it easy to reach for essentials on your rides. Team and Dealer logo customization available for CRBN Teams or Dealers. Please contact us for details.
